Governor makes pre-election push
for local candidates
Long Beach —Steve Kuykendall, candidate for the 54th Assembly District, received a last minute appearance from Governor Schwarzenegger on the eve of the election to rally support for local candidates.

“Governor Schwarzenegger, by the sheer strength of his personality and common sense approach to government, has lifted California out of the slump and has put the state back on track to address the problems of the last five or six years. He needs help, and we are dedicated to making the Legislature an equal partner in that effort by helping him balance the budget, stimulate business and economic growth, and making necessary reforms to streamline state government.” said Kuykendall. “I am extremely grateful for the support we have received from the Governor so far and thank him for his appearance today. I have immense respect for his hard work and dedication to this great state.”
Kuykendall is a former member of Congress, councilman and mayor, and served two terms in the state legislature. He has been endorsed by over 100 local leaders, former Governors Deukmejian and Wilson, Sheriff Lee Baca and the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs.
The 54 th Assembly District is currently represented by Alan Lowenthal — who must give up the seat in 2004 due to term limits — and includes Long Beach, San Pedro, Signal Hill, Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
